Questions and answers
Split by audience — the commercial questions and the ones a specialist actually asks are not the same list.
We work on a standard recruitment model: our fee is 20% of the candidate’s annual income for the role we fill.
A 30% retainer is payable at the start of the search and is credited toward the total recruitment fee.
If the client decides to stop the search and leave the vacancy unfilled, or fills the role independently, the retainer is non-refundable.
The replacement clause and the period during which it applies are set out in the agreement. If the candidate leaves within this period, we run the search again at no additional fee.
Yes. We work with companies managing different types of fleets, including river-sea operators. Our focus, however, is on recruiting shore-based specialists rather than crewing vessels.
Yes. Vacancy posting is a separate service. We verify the company, publish the vacancy within one business day, and applications are sent directly to your corporate email address.
No candidate search is started unless you request it separately.
No. We are not a crewing agency and do not provide vessel manning services.
We recruit shore-based professionals for the maritime industry, including personnel for crewing agencies and crewing departments within shipping companies — such as crewing managers, crew coordinators and other specialists.
No. Applying for vacancies is free and always will be. Career consulting and training programmes are paid services. You will be informed of the price by a Marvus manager before the training or service begins.
Yes. The short form only asks for your name, contact details and the position you are applying for. Documents are requested once the employer confirms interest, so we do not collect them without a reason.
Marvus Advisory first. Your documents are passed to the employer only after you confirm your interest in that specific vacancy. We never circulate your documents to a list of companies to see who might be interested.
This is standard practice in agency recruitment: the employer’s name may not be disclosed publicly when a vacancy is posted. During the first conversations with a suitable candidate, we provide more information about the company and the role. If there is mutual interest, we discuss the next steps and the possibility of presenting the candidate to the employer.
Moving from a seagoing role to a shore-based position often requires a different approach to the job search. A maritime CV can describe your experience at sea well, but it may not be enough when applying for complex specialist or management positions ashore.
Our consultants can help you build a strategy for moving from sea to shore, understand how your maritime experience can be positioned for employers, and prepare for the recruitment process.
Career consulting may include recommendations on your CV and professional positioning, as well as a mock HR interview to help you prepare for the real interview stage.
Career consulting is a paid service. A Marvus manager will explain the format and price before the service begins.
